The Love of a Dog

If you know me, you know I love dogs. I mean most people say they love dogs, but I really LOVE dogs.
Nothing warms my heart more than a pup.

I got my first dog, Sammy, when I was a young lad in elementary school; he passed away while I was in college. I miss that little rascal! Shortly after we got Sammy, we took in another miniature pinscher named Emmett. Though they were of the same breed they each had very distinct personalities and I loved them both so much.

Emmett passed away in Oct. 2013. While losing Sammy was extremely hard, the fact that we still had Emmett lessened the pain. He became my BFF. To live in a house without a dog felt eerie. I hated it.

Some people lose dogs and are unable to ever have another for fear of having to endure the pain of loss over and over again.

I’m not one of those people. Nor is my dad.

So in November of 2013 we took in an adorable pup (also a miniature pinscher — my dad refuses to break from the breed) and I named him Rudolph. He’s more popular than me – check out his Instagram here.

But this post is not about Rudolph, it’s about Emmett. Today would’ve been his 15th birthday and as a tribute I’d like to share a few photos of him.

If you don’t own a dog, at least one, there is not necessarily anything wrong with you, but there may be something wrong with your life.
