Monday Musings

Over a year ago I wrote this piece for my blog. I was gearing up for a new adventure and couldn’t have been more excited. It’s amazing how life changes in 365 days. To think it was only last June that I was wandering around San Francisco, by myself, enjoying ice cream (the best ever) in Dolores Park. I was single, unemployed and gave zero fucks. I was on an ADVENTURRREEEE and loving every single second of it.

It honestly feels like yesterday.

I remember so vividly staying at the Green Tortoise Hostel, wandering around Pike’s Place Market with my new travel buddies and meeting back up with newfound friends in Vancouver. It was such an invigorating few weeks that I’ll always be able to look back on with smiles and laughter.

And that’s why I love to travel.

I strive to live a life rich with memories and moments, small and large. I love looking back on photos and journals detailing my crazy adventures — those mean more to me than any other material possession.

Making friends in Seattle!

Now, I’m back to work in NYC and I’m in a long distance relationship! You’d think I was in a relationship with some guy I met during my travels, right? Nope. Someone I met SIX May’s ago at a summer job and reconnected with after my adventure last summer. And now I know what being in love truly feels like and it’s all the clichés I could’ve ever dreamed of and more.

GOALS.

Long distance is rough and it’s something I honestly never thought I’d be down for. But when it’s love and it’s real, it’s worth it and the distance isn’t even a factor, it’s just a hump to get through. (Military boys, amiright?)

ANYWAYS – wishing you all a fantastic week! Hope the weather is warm and sunny wherever you are 🙂

That’s Bananas

I say “HOLY BANANAS” a lot and Kate Spade is now all about the banana life and I’m just loving this bag…but it’s like mucho dollars and I’m all about taking that money and spending it on a plane ticket over a BAG. But I digress…

ANYWAY. These past few weeks have been an emotional whirlwind for me. And really for no other reason than me getting in my own head about stuff and freaking myself out about a future that hasn’t even happened yet and allllll of the ‘what if’ questions in life — that’s bananas. Like. Why am I worrying about hypotheticals?! No buenooooo.

DepKV

At the end of the day, it’s not healthy to worry about a future that hasn’t even happened yet. Make the most of TODAY. Embrace and love and cherish all that you have right NOW. Follow your gut, listen to your heart and the rest will fall into place. I can’t promise that, but I really do believe it.

A Look Back at London

In July of 2013 I was off to London to study abroad for a month as a part of Northeastern University’s Dialogue of Civilizations program. I wasn’t blogging back at that point, so I figured I’d share some snapshots from my time there with y’all.

Photos below are a mix from London, Bath and Stonehenge.

Got to see my main man, JT, at London’s Wireless Festival. He was incredible, as always.
