There’s a certain je ne sais quoi about visiting a tourist town during the off-season. Roaming the empty streets, it feels as if the place is yours for the taking. Today, my grandma and I wandered around the village of Lake George for a few hours and it was wonderful.
Lake George, NY – Just a 2.5 hour drive from Montreal, Lake George is a village located at the base of the Adirondack Mountains. And it happens to be my favorite place in the world. Sure, I’ve been to Iceland, Spain, France, Italy and countless other places… but I always find ultimate solace in this small tourist town. So much of my childhood is rooted here.
Countless games of mini golf played, gallons of ice cream eaten from The Pink Roof, miles and miles walked around the village…oh, and the discovery of the fudge apple!
I find myself in NYC most weekends to spend time with friends, but I’m glad I decided to take a drive up north to take in some fresh mountain air. Now, I’m going to head out and enjoy the sunshine before I have to head downstate again.
Hope you’re enjoying this weekend wherever you may be – small town, big city, desert valley, planet Jupiter, etc.
Spread kindness and cheer, xo
